Prescription Contact Lenses

Prescription & Colored Contact Lenses

Before an optometrist fits you for contact lenses a complete eye examination is necessary to ensure the right prescription is written. During the eye exam your doctor needs to make sure the health of your eye is good and there is no possibility of an underlying condition prevent you from using contact lenses. Your optometrist will also determine what your contact lens prescription will be for you to obtain better vision. Since there are many different contact lenses available the doctor will find the most appropriate contact lens material and design for you. The staff at Family Vision Centers specializes in fitting contact lenses to patients needing all types of lenses and will find the right pair for you

When fitting patients for contact lenses our goal is to find a contact lens that will provide maximum comfort and optimal vision. Most of the time our optometrists are able to locate the right contact lens for patients in only one fitting, but more than one fitting is required in some cases. Family Vision Center will take any extra time and effort needed to fully satisfy our patient’s contact lens needs.

Since there is a large assortment of contact lenses available, you and your eye care specialist need to determine which type of contact lens will be right for you. A few types of contact lenses available include: Soft contact lenses allow oxygen to pass through to the eyes due to the flexible plastic they are made from. Daily wear contact lenses should be removed every day for cleaning and before sleeping, these contact lenses typically last 6 months to 1 year. Daily wear disposable contact lenses use the design of soft contact lenses and are removed before sleeping to be discarded. Extended wear contact lenses can usually be worn for up to seven days straight without removing them. Frequent replacement contact lenses are replaced on a planned schedule. Rigid Gas Permeable contact lenses are made from firm plastic allowing the most oxygen to pass through the eye and are usually right for patients with astigmatism.

Family Vision Center fits patients using trial contact lenses. Many times patients that come into our office for a contact lens fitting or a refit are able to leave the office with a trial pair of contact lenses. When patients find the right fitting contact lens while at our office, they can purchase a supply directly from us. If an annual supply of contact lenses is ordered at our office and it is not in stock we will ship it directly to the patient free of cost.

Contact lens wearers not able to come into a Family Vision Center office can easily purchase their contact lenses through our online store, Famvision.com. Famvision offers competitive rates on contact lenses at a savings of up to 50% off retail prices. Contact lenses purchased in large quantities offer the biggest discounts. Our online contact lens store has staff available 24 hours 7 days a week to process orders and guarantees accuracy in filling contact lens prescriptions.
